Iason Maroulis
Iason Maroulis is a composer interested in the musical representation of the sensory and emotional aspects of concepts as they are understood empirically. In 2023, he co-founded the contemporary music ensemble àktapha, in which he participates as a composer, arranger, and trumpeter. Iason began his composition studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London under Rubens Askenar and completed his postgraduate studies at the Kunstuniversität Graz in Austria under Clemens Gadenstätter. His music has been performed in numerous countries across Europe, and he has collaborated with musicians such as violinist Judith Fliedl, guitarist Dimitris Soukaras, and baritone Harald H. Hein, as well as ensembles including Ensemble Suono Giallo and .abeceda new music ensemble. He has been awarded the Musikförderungspreis der Stadt Graz in 2024, the Athena Scholarship, and the Entrance Scholarship from the Royal Academy of Music.
