George Karageorgiou

George Karageorgiou is President and CEO of Olympic Shipping and Management S.A., the shipping arm of the Onassis Group, a position he has held since January 2017. He has extensive international experience in the shipping and business sectors.

He was the Co-founder, Director and CEO of Globus Maritime Limited (2006–2016), serving also as President (2011–2015) and CFO (2013–2015).

From 1995 to 2005, he was a founding member and Executive Director of easyGroup Limited, the holding company of Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, actively involved in the development and management of several subsidiaries including easyJet, easyInternetcafe, easyRentacar, easyMoney, easyCruise, easyHotel, and easyBus.

Earlier in his career, he was a founding member and Director of Stelmar Shipping Limited (1992–2004). He began his professional career at Kassos Maritime Enterprises, the Kouloukoundis family’s private ship management company, where he worked as a superintendent engineer and project manager (1990–1992).

George Karageorgiou serves on the Boards of Directors of the Union of Greek Shipowners, HELMEPA, INTERTANKO, GARD, and the Hellenic Mutual War Risks Association, and is a member of the DNV GL Greek National Committee, RINA Hellenic Advisory Committee, ABS, and the ABS Hellenic National Committee.

He holds an M.Sc. in Shipping, Trade, and Finance from Cass Business School (London), an M.E. in Ocean Engineering, and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology (USA).
