Emmanuel Laskaridis

Emmanuel Laskaridis is an attorney at law accredited to the Supreme Court of Greece, a board member of the National Authority of Medically Assisted Reproduction, and co-founder of GDPRTeam and the Greek Association of Medical Law and Bioethics. He holds a PhD from the University of Heidelberg (2002) on electronic medical records and electronic data processing. He worked at the Data Protection Authority and as Special Scientist in the Health and Social Welfare Series. He was a member of the legislative drafting committees at the Hellenic Parliament and at the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity.
In terms of his research and academic career, he was visiting researcher at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS, London) and the Institute for Medicine, Health and Bioethics (IMGB, University of Mannheim) for several years, and adjunct lecturer at the Law School of the Democritus University of Thrace and Neapolis University of Pafos where he taught the following courses: “General Principles of Civil Law”, “General Law of Obligations”, “Special Law of Obligations” and “Real Estate Law” . He has taught at the National School of Judges, and has given postgraduate courses in five different topics at the Law and Medical Schools of the University of Athens and at the National School of Public Health, as well as for health professionals at the Training Institute and the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government (Greece).
He has published two monographs (in Greek and German) on the law of obligation and medical law. He has edited the volume “Code of Medical Ethics: An Interpretation” (2013) which was reviewed in four scholarly journals as well as the “ΑΩ Magazine”. He has contributed in three edited volumes on legal interpretation and four honorary volumes. He has written 34 scholarly articles in German, English, French, and Greek. He has presented his research in conferences in Greece and abroad, and in bar associations. He has given more than 40 speeches.
His research has been supported by the National Scholarships Fund, German Academic Scholarship Foundation, Onassis Foundation, and German Institute for Academic Support (GymnasialStiftungsfond). He speaks Greek, English, German, French, and Russian.
