Effie Pappa is a director of animation films. She was born in Igoumenitsa, is now based in Athens, and works internationally. Her films have been screened and awarded at various film festivals around the world—the most distinguished being her stop motion short “My Stuffed Granny,” which received more than twenty international awards for Best Animation (Edinburgh International Film Festival, Tokyo Anime Awards, Hamptons International Film Festival, etc.), and it was also screened in the official competition of Annecy Film Festival.
She also directs commercials and music videos, most famously “Wild World” by Cat Stevens and “Little Elephant” by George Hadjipieris/Phoebus Delivorias, which gathered more than 85 million views. Her work was lauded with ERMIS and EBGE awards, among others, and has been featured in platforms such as ‘Rolling Stone,’ ‘Metal Magazine,’ ‘The Fader,’ Vimeo Stuff Pick, and ‘It’s Nice That.’
She graduated from the Technical University of Athens’ Department of Graphic Design and the MA program in Animation Direction at the National Film and Television School in London. She has received a scholarship from the Onassis Foundation and was awarded the SNF Artist Fellowship ARTWORKS in 2021.
In 2024, she developed her first animated children’s series, “My Name is Lulo” (4-6, family), which tackles the daily experiences of 6-year-old Lulo, a hybrid cat-squirrel, and her family living in Athens.
