DImitris Christopoulos
Dimitris Christopoulos (b. 1969, Athens) is a Greek academic and writer. A Professor of Political Science in the Department of Political Science and History at Panteion University, where he has taught since 2000, Christopoulos’ research interests include citizenship, migration, and minorities. As a public intellectual, he intervenes regularly, mainly in the Greek but also in the international press, and he has built a significant record in civil society, first as President of the Hellenic League for Human Rights (2003–2011) and later as President of the International Federation for Human Rights (2016–2019), based in Paris. His books, published in Greek, include “Who Is a Greek Citizen?” (2012 and 2019), “If the Refugee Issue Were a Problem, It Would Have a Solution” (2020), “Journey to the State” (2022), and “Years of Trial” (2025). The forging of this hybrid sense of belonging of Greek-Albanian identity among the children of Albanian migrants in Greece has been at the forefront of his academic and political interests for many years.
