bijoux de kant

bijoux de kant comprises the coexistence of multiple ideas, esthetics, and modes of artistic expression. Over the twelve years it has been active to date, bijoux de kant has made itself an arena for constructive dialogue between theater, the fine arts, music, dance, theory, and digital media. Working within the independent theater scene, while also partnering with such major cultural institutions as the National Theater of Greece, the Greek National Opera, the National Theater of Northern Greece, Onassis Stegi, and Megaron – the Athens Concert Hall, it has managed to carve out a distinct artistic idiom. Since 2020, it has also been an affiliate organization of the Athens Culture Net – an initiative run by the City of Athens.

The core creative team features Yannis Skourletis, Konstantinos Skourletis, Yorgos Papadakis, and Asimenia Efthymiou, and also includes numerous longstanding associate artists from the Greek theater scene.

bijoux de kant is an artistic entity formed to support and showcase creative expression and critical thought, poetic discourse and diverse idioms. Deeply enmeshed within the contemporary arts scene, bijoux de kant has collaborated with such writers as Dimitri Dimitriadis, Glykeria Basdeki, and Akis Dimou, thereby spotlighting original Greek works written for the stage. It also champions collective action and – by working collaboratively with artists, academics, and all those who believe in art – seeks to create works of high esthetic value that offer critical perspectives on current issues.

During the course of the pandemic, bijoux de kant decided to make its digital debut via an online platform of its own called LAND. bijoux de kant LAND explores the relationship between the performing arts and digital media, probing both the body and the theater in their digital manifestations. How might theatrical texts, actors, music, and set design elements exist within digital modes of expression?
