Andria Nicodemou

Andria Nicodemou is a multifaceted musician from Cyprus, specializing in vibraphone, improvisation, and interdisciplinary and interactive performances. Her music is characterized as an “open-ended play,” where movement, theatricality, and sound are equally important. She has collaborated with important artists such as Joe Morris, Anthony Coleman, Marty Ehrlich, Ikue Morri, Tayler Ho Bynum, Anne La Berge, Tatsuya Nakatani, Ab Baars, Gerald Cleaver, Gianni Lenoci, Ingrid Laubrock, Joe McPhee, Garrison Fewell, Laurence Cook, Guilermo Gregorio, among others, and she has performed at various venues in Europe, USA, and Canada. She has released records with the labels Relative Pitch in New York (“The Industry of Entropy,” with Brandon Lopez, Gerald Cleaver, and Matt Nelson), Glacial Erratic Records (the trio album “Raven,” with Joe Morris and Ben Hall), and Subcontinental Records (“River is Full,” with Eric Zinman, Damon Smith, and Laurence Cook). Andria is the co-founder of the award-winning Thread Ensemble, based in the City of Boston, and she is the founder of the non-profit organization Make Music Cyprus. With this NGO, this year she organizes for the first time the Breach Festival for Free Improvisation and Experimental Music.
