Andreas Karabinis

President of the National Transplant Authority of Greece

Andreas Karabinis is the Chief Medical Officer for the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, the President of the National Transplant Authority of Greece and the first Professor of Emergency Medicine at Athens Medical School since 2012. He earned his medical degree from the University of Athens in 1980 and did his residency and specialty training in Paris at Pitie Salpetriere Hospital, at Claude-Bernard Hospital and at Institut Gustave Roussy. After serving for 25 years at the National Health System (Laiko General Hospital, Gennimatas General Hospital), he moved to Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center as its ICU Director in 2011. Besides his interest in emergency medicine and intensive care medicine, he has a special interest in infections in immunosuppressed patients as well as in biomedical ethics.
