Two masterclasses that will change the way you experience contemporary music. Onassis Stegi, in collaboration with Institut Français d'Athènes and Athens Conservatoire, invites students of composition and music theory classes of the Athens Conservatoire, as well as external participants who want to participate, to submit their CV and work samples until 20th January 2019.

Piano and Chamber Music Masterclass on Tuesday 5 March

The masterclass is addressed to students of composition and music theory classes of the Athens Conservatoire, as well as to external participants. Works by Messiaen, composers who studied by his side, and composers who were closely related to him, are eligible for this masterclass. See below the indicative list of works that can be presented. Other works can also be proposed, as long as they meet the above requirements.

Those who are interested in participating can send their applications through email to nikos.athineos@gmail.com and l.ramou@sgt.gr. For the students of the Athens Conservatoire, the application should include a CV and the title of the proposed piece. For external participants, the application should include a CV, the title of the proposed piece and a recent (video/audio) recording of their performance (5 to 8 min. long). Regarding the applications of chamber ensembles, the participants can either submit a recording of an ensemble performance or individual recordings of each ensemble member. Notification of acceptance will be communicated by early February 2018.

Composition Masterclass on Wednesday 6 March

The masterclass is addressed to students of composition and music theory classes of the Athens Conservatoire, as well as to external participants, who will present brief pieces of music inspired by elements of Messiaen’s oeuvre.

Those who are interested in participating should submit their CV and work samples, written and styled according to the guidelines (see below), through email to l.ramou@sgt.gr by 20 January 2018. Notification of acceptance will be communicated by early February 2018. The selection of participants will be made by Alain Louvier.

The participation fee for the masterclasses is paid at the Athens Conservatoire and is €25 for the Conservatoire students and €40 for external participants.

The attendants of the analysis masterclass can prepare for the presentation of the Messiaen works with the scores available at the “Lilian Voudouri” Music Library of Greece.
