The neighborhood around Onassis Stegi is changing
More green space, more room for pedestrians, and safer, more functional streets. The redevelopment of Galaxia and Leontiou streets is reshaping everyday life around Onassis Stegi.

Stretching from Evridamantos Street to Syngrou Avenue, the two streets (Galaxia and Leontiou) are being transformed. The project is a donation from the Onassis Foundation to the City of Athens, benefiting residents, local businesses, and everyone who moves through the area each day.
New trees and planting, wider, more accessible pavements, permeable surfaces that allow rainwater to be absorbed more effectively, traffic-calming measures, and better-organized parking will create a cooler, more functional, and more welcoming neighborhood.
Initial preparatory work will begin in August without disrupting traffic. The redevelopment will proceed in stages, with measures in place to ensure safe movement through the area and uninterrupted access to homes and businesses.
