STAGES A/LIVE present 63 High at Eightball

Digital premiere at Onassis Channel on YouTube: 04.04.2021 at 21:00 (UTC+3)

On Sunday, April 4 at 21:00, 63 High are coming to STAGES A/LIVE and bringing life to the legendary Eightball stage in Thessaloniki. One of the best Greek ska-punk bands of the ’90s is coming to the Onassis Foundation YouTube Channel to get us all dancing.

This genuine article of a band is taking to the stage once more to rock our world, in a space that has hosted some of the greatest Greek and international artists.

63 Ηigh are coming to us live from Eightball, giving a concert to remind us of everything we’ve been missing this last year. With songs that spring from daily life, that speak of the people around us, of people gone and people yet to come. Songs whose sound connects with audiences, songs with the power to electrify even through our screens.

63 High started out in Thessaloniki some 25 years ago, with such influences as Jamaican reggae, the UK ska scene, and the West Coast USA hardcore punk sound.

With the principles of DIY culture rooted deep inside them, they have – since the late ’90s – rightly earned their place among the best live bands of their kind, having played hundreds of gigs in Greece and around the world: at both intimate venues and major festivals, at times solo and at times alongside such legendary bands as Ska-P, No Fun at All, and Los de Abajo.

STAGES A/LIVE
STAGES A/LIVE is a series of concerts without audiences but with lots of music, hosted by the Onassis Foundation YouTube Channel. An alternative digital world tour featuring our favorite bands and artists, and everything we’ve experienced with them at legendary past lives held at landmark venues such as Gagarin 205, AN Club, and other music stages in Athens and Thessaloniki.

Until we can all be together again at a live concert, music will be bringing us closer, even though we’re far apart, helping us to relive memories and concerts shared with thousands of people – both friends and strangers – via our screens. Greece’s indie music stages were created to support young artists, and have supported yet more audiences with bands once unknown that went on to become legends, in no small part thanks to their performances at historic concert venues. Fuzzy memories that today spark nostalgia, and a need for these stages to pull through – places where we feel safe and full of energy.

In this difficult time for people working in the arts, the Onassis Foundation is actively supporting these spaces that, due to the pandemic, are close to shutting their doors for good. Stages drained of artists, of technicians, of audiences – and of life.

EIGHTBALL

Eightball is yet another legendary concert venue that has completely transformed Thessaloniki nightlife. From 2006 right down until today, its two stages have hosted countless artists from all over the world, offering audiences no end of concerts, parties, and music events, and supporting culture and artistic expression in all its forms.

To this end, the Eightball stage has been graced by such celebrated bands as Nightstalker, Orange Goblin, Rotting Christ, Septicflesh, Pavlov’s Dog, V.I.C., Moonspell, Primordial, Planet of Zeus, 1000mods, Sodom, Bad Movies, 2002 GR, 12os Pithikos, and more.

Unstoppable and upbeat, tireless and always on, according to its founders, Eightball has constantly contributed to the development of the surrounding area, drawing in countless visitors over its 15 years of operation. On Eightball’s two independent stages in Thessaloniki’s Ladadika district, everyone can find what they’re looking for: everything from ’80s disco and Korean pop, to darkwave, ’70s rock, and extreme metal.

The last concert to be held at Eightball before lockdown hit was on March 6, 2020.
