The public discourse on organ donation in Greece is now at a different point than it was just a few years ago. Over the past five years, significant progress has been made: public awareness has increased, trust in the transplant system is gradually being restored, and the discussion is increasingly grounded in knowledge rather than fear. Within this new, more mature context, Organmeetings continues, with the second seminar of 2026 scheduled for June 24. Its aim is to foster a deeper dialogue that concerns us all.

Organ donation is an act of solidarity and a gift of life. At the same time, however, it remains a field that raises questions, reservations, and often uncertainty, especially when information is incomplete or misleading. Myths, misconceptions, and extreme cases that surface in public discourse from time to time continue to hinder understanding of what really applies in relation to brain death, the donation process, and transplantation. Organmeetings exist precisely to address these questions with clarity, scientific rigor, and respect for citizens. It is an informative program that sheds light on all aspects of organ donation and transplantation, explaining what is fact and what is myth, how the system currently operates in Greece, and what role each of us plays in this chain of life.

The Organmeetings program is organized by the Onassis Foundation, under the scientific auspices of the Hellenic Transplant Organization and the Onassis Hospital, and is addressed to companies, organizations, associations, institutions, and professionals who wish to offer their people reliable knowledge and meaningful information on a profoundly human and socially critical issue.

The seminars are delivered by specialized executives of the Hellenic Transplant Organization, with the aim of not merely providing information but also of fostering understanding, dialogue, and trust-building. Participating organizations and companies receive certification from the Hellenic Transplant Organization and become part of the “Precious Links” network of the national effort to strengthen organ donation.
