"Homes" and "Behind the Wall" in Thessaloniki

Onassis Stegi productions inspire Greek documentarists, whose movies travel to the 21st Thessaloniki Documentary Festival (1-10 March). Onassis Stegi trusted the recording of important productions, like Onassis Fast Forward Festival 4 and "Still Life" to the hands of cinematographers, embracing the documentaries that make ideas flow and strengthen the voices that communicate with dreams and concerns of the society. Through common grounds, Onassis Stegi supports artists and helps them release their potential.
Leonidas Konstantarakos and Stavros Petropoulos (Alaska) followed 10 of the site-specific productions that were part of the Onassis Fast Forward Festival 4 (2-14 May 2017) and created a documentary for the traumatic experience of having to leave your home behind and losing it for good. The movie titled "Home", co-produced by Onassis Stegi, introduces the story of the artists from Syntagma and Omonoia to the port of Piraeus and Drapetsona, creating notional "shared spaces" in the borderline between fiction and reality. The documentary is presented in the section of “The Artist is Present” at March 4 and 5, in the framework of Thessaloniki Documentary Festival.

Nefeli Sarris followed the making-of "Still Life" by Dimitris Papaioannou, an international co-production of Onassis Stegi. The performance had its world premier at Onassis Stegi on May of 2014. The documentary titled "Behind the Wall" focuses on the vision and philosophy of Dimitris Papaioannou, but its not a typical portrait of the international Greek artist. The purpose of this film is to create a parallelism between the creative process and the Sisyphus myth, emphasizing on how life and work of great artists are the same. The documentary is a production of Argonauts AE, a co-production of ERT AE, and supported by Onassis Culture. It is presented in the section of “The Artist is Present” at March 7 and 8, in the framework of Thessaloniki Documentary Festival.
