Onassis Film Award 2025 at the 66th Thessaloniki International Film Festival

The Onassis Foundation continues its longstanding partnership with the largest film festival in the country, highlighting the voices of emerging and established filmmakers. Each year, it presents the Onassis Film Award to Greek filmmakers participating in the Thessaloniki Agora.

Continuing its long-standing collaboration with the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, The Onassis Foundation presents the Onassis Film Award for the fifth consecutive year. The award is granted to one of the Greek projects participating in the Agora and is accompanied by a cash prize of 10,000 euros.

The Onassis Film Award 2025 goes to the film “The tide hears them but they no longer have a voice” by Yannis Veslemes, produced by Filmiki. A project that stood out for its boldness and authenticity, seeking a balance between the political and the metaphysical. With a clear directorial vision, it addresses one of the most politically dark periods in Greece in order to speak about timeless themes and universal questions surrounding death and immortality.

The jury of the Onassis Film Award, under the direction of the Artistic Director of the Onassis Foundation, Afroditi Panagiotakou, is comprised of:
