Mitsi by Gevi Dimitrakopoulou, Onassis Film Award 2025

Onassis Film Awards

Onassis Culture furthers its long-standing collaboration with the country’s most revered short film festival, strengthening the artistic production of young creators. Each year, it presents the Onassis Film Awards to filmmakers participating in the National Competition Program. Two awards were handed this year, each accompanied by a cash prize of 5,000 euros for developing the awarded filmmakers’ feature films.

The winning films are “Mitsi” by Gevi Dimitrakopoulou, a tender yet unflinching story of empowerment that magically finds balance between the often suffocating reality we live in and the metaphysical as an escape, and "Carcass" by Makis Sebos, "a story that kept us engaged from beginning to end. A film that succeeds in building the complexity and truth of a relationship through the everyday and far-from-simple moral dilemmas encountered driving on the road."

Last Tropics - Big Short Film 2023

Big Short Films

Onassis Culture embraces the process of creation, research, and artistic development. For the first time in 2023, it organized “Open Call: Big Short Films,” an open call to Greek and foreign filmmakers to submit their proposals for short films. The first Big Short Film to be completed is “MJ” by Giorgos Fourtounis, produced by Eleni Kossyfidou (Blackbird Production), a film that first encountered its audience at the 47th Drama International Short Film Festival. Three Big Short Films were presented at this edition, and were warmly received by audience and critics alike. "Last tropics" by Thanasis Troumpoukis earned Best Photography, Best Sound, Best Design awards, and "Everything and nothing" by Lia Tsalta earned the Best Visual Effects award.
