Euripides’ "Trojan Women" directed by Theodoros Terzopoulos travel to ALL ARTS, the online channel of PBS network in New York
Through its “Never In New York” program, the Emmy- winning PBS “ALL ARTS” hub presents the greatest artists working in theater and opera whose work has rarely, or in some cases never been staged in New York. Theodoros Terzopoulos is among them – an episode on his “Trojan Women” airs on 27 May 2020.
Theodoros Terzopoulos’ sold-out production of “Trojan Women”, presented as part of a tribute to the director titled “The Return of Dionysus”, journeys from the Ancient Theater at Delphi to appear on the PBS “ALL ARTS” hub as one of ten works featured in its “Never In New York” program. It is a festival that presents the greatest artists working in theater and opera from around the world, whose work has rarely, or in some cases never been staged in New York. Featured alongside the likes of Heiner Müller, Christoph Marthaler, Frank Castorf, Barrie Kosky, and Kirill Serebrennikov, Theodoros Terzopoulos is represented by this Attis Theater production staged with the support of the Onassis Foundation.
With Despina Bebedeli in the role of Hecuba, eleven actors from six countries and six Cassandras from divided cities (Nicosia, Mostar, Jerusalem), "Trojan Women" stands as a protest against irrationality, violence and the horrors of war and as a demand for peace, solidarity and humanism. The director intends the production to serve as a bridge by highlighting the phenomenon of divided cities, divided peoples and the need for reconciliation.
