After her solo exhibition “SWEAT Athens” by Onassis Stegi which traveled at CIFF Denmark and CIFF Paris, the Onassis Fellow and recent graduate of the Royal College of Art, Alice Potts is part of Standard’s magazine ‘Progress 1000’ list of London’s most influential people in 2019, in the section of beauty and fashion. Sweat crystals, algae and other sustainable materials come to revolutionize the textile industry while Potts aims to perfect sustainable bioplastics and fibres. According to Standard, “She is certainly unique in the fashion industry and with a background in maths and science [Alice] is trying to bring the most sustainable techniques to fashion”.
"In the future our bodies will be able to secrete their own fashion."
During her stay in Athens, as an Onassis Fellow, the main focus of her work looks at the confluence of Fashion, Science and the human body. Exploring the poetry of the human fluids she began to further study the human sporting anatomy, both inside and outside. "For me the most important thing is not being a tourist, but really learning how to become an Athenian", Alice Potts said after her first months in Greece.
