Scratch Bam on Tour

GNOUS COMPANY

A performance produced by the Onassis Stegi, as part of The Big Bang music festival 2. The festival is co-funded by the “Creative Europe” program of the European Union.

What sound does a pitchfork make? How can a hot water bottle and a metal sheet create sound effects for a film?

Stegi, as part of its programs aimed at children of the first grades of primary school, presents an original audiovisual performance, where two musicians drawing on foley (the reproduction of everyday sounds as effects which are added to films, videos, and other media in post-production) produce extraordinary sounds with everyday objects, in order to ‘bring to life’ moving animated images from video animation and old movies, shown on stage.

In this pioneering sound workshop, which looks more like a domestic kitchen or store room, children encounter a range of utility objects rather than musical instruments: pots and pans, whistles, staplers, horns, fruit, vegetables, balloons, ball bearings, packs of cards, springs, bicycle bells, hosepipes, typewriters, roller-skates and a whole lot more.
