Kiss/Crash

Video Installation

Description

“Kiss/Crash” is an interactive video triptych that uses AI to explore desire, violence, and the gap between real experience and artificial representation. The installation features three interrelated works that use generative techniques to augment, subvert, and negate the iconic image of the Hollywood kiss: the central video, in which a car crash is obsessively transformed into a romantic kiss; “Me Kissing Me,” showing the artist in a romantic kiss with himself; and “Crash Me, Gently,” an interactive loop in which a foot pedal invites viewers to accelerate a televised kiss. By placing AI within the lineage of technologies designed to arouse and homogenize desire, the work exposes the dangerous logic of AI-generated imagery, suggesting how our most intimate fantasies will be stretched and shaped by artificial representations at an accelerating pace.
