Approach 17. Opening

Circus/Dance Show

Description

“The unreachable suspension point”

Relying on the Opening movement of Philip Glass’ “Glassworks,” “Approach 17” proposes a simplified take on existential trajectories, alternating between elevations and descents, with a staircase that leads nowhere. Temporal chronology is disrupted through plays on the theme of reversibility. Atop an invisible partition, one character manages to elude the void, manipulating the laws of gravity and weightlessness in order to reach a state of freedom suspended between balance and imbalance. This visual poem centers on a moving, vertiginous procession toward the point of suspension—that brief, fleeting moment when a body reaches its highest possible point, and the inevitable fall has yet to commence.
