Nike

Part of the Ork Series, Nike reimagines the exhibition space as a virtual studio. Triantafyllidis embodies an ork avatar who uses digital tools to create 3D forms, recorded through DIY motion capture and displayed on mobile screens throughout the space. The work re-interprets the Winged Victory of Samothrace, as the muscular ork attempts to recreate the ancient sculpture from memory—playfully entangling its themes of awe, struggle, and divine grace with the iconography of the synonymous sportswear brand. Works are rendered physically flat through a deliberate misuse of 3D modeling, acquiring alternative mass and materiality in this augmented world.
