Onassis Prizes

AWARDING THE PEOPLE WHO CHANGE THE WORLD

THE ONASSIS PRIZES ARE AWARDED TO CONTEMPORARY LEADING RESEARCHERS IN THE FIELDS OF FINANCE, INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND SHIPPING.

The ONASSIS PRIZES are awarded once every three years to researchers and academics of international range that lead the way of future sciences.

For ONASSIS FOUNDATION, everything starts with knowledge. By awarding leading researchers the ONASSIS PRIZES support those who envision tomorrow and make a step forward. We believe in the release of potential that ultimately changes our lives and our society. The ONASSIS PRIZES are awarded once every three years to leading researchers in the fields of Finance, International Trade and Shipping, the very fields that Aristotle Onassis excelled in. The prizes, $200,000 each, are awarded to academics of international range for the entire body of their work. Among the laureates of previous years is Eugene Fama, who was awarded the Onassis Prize in 2009, and then won the Nobel for Economics in 2013, as well as Gene Grossman, who is known for his research on the relationship between trade and economic development. The selection is carried out by a committee, comprised of prominent academics, among them two Nobel laureates.
