George Papadatos

As of April 2012, George Papadatos belongs to the scientific staff of the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) and more specifically to the chemogenomics data analysis team. The Bioinformatics Institute belongs to the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and their purpose is to contribute to biology research and provide scientific and technical support to the international scientific community.

George Papadatos is a graduate from the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Athens. He has completed a master and doctoral degree with an Onassis Foundation scholarship at the IT department of the University of Sheffield, Great Britain, specializing in chemoinformatics. His thesis was entitled Data Mining for Lead Optimisation and was conducted in collaboration with the Structural and Computational Chemistry Department of GlaxoSmithKline pharmaceutics. He was also a post-doctoral research fellow at the Computational Drug Design Department of Eli Lilly research centre in Great Britain.

George Papadatos research focuses mostly on the analysis of the relationship between chemical structure and pharmacological activity, and has featured in distinguished international journals, conferences and collective volumes.
