Loukia Richards

Loukia Richards is a jewellery designer and painter who in the past years has been inspired by the forms of Neolithic idols.   She designs and makes jewellery using textile as her main material, toying with the idea of inventing something new, precious in form and meaning, from some unexpected material.

Using textile as a base she created the piece named Salve with which she participated in the international competition Faith that recently took place in the Netherlands.  Her work together with the work of the other candidates from 23 countries was included in the SIERAAD exhibition in Amsterdam which is to travel to Mexico, Brazil, and New York and will then return to Amsterdam to be presented at the Coda Museum of Contemporary Art.

Also her piece of jewellery made of textile and entitled Cycladic Cross is included in the publication Jewelers: The Directory, a book that was released in November 2007 in London by A&C Black Publishers.

Loukia Richards studied in the Berlin University of the Arts with a scholarship from the Onassis Foundation.  Her work has been exhibited in Berlin, New York and Athens.  Some of her pieces can be found in private collections as well as in the Peloponnesian Laographical Institute.
