Marios Efthymiopoulos

Marios-Panagiotis Efthymiopoulos was elected as Asst. Professor, Director and Coordinator of the post-graduate course on Strategy and Security run by the American University in the Emirates which is based in Dubai.

Marios Efthymiopoulos is specialised in global strategy and security, international security law, strategic growth, governmental strategy and security, crisis management, communications, business strategy and war tactics, defence policy for nation states and international organisations, as well as economic growth strategy to promote security and stability. He is a member of the Member of the Geostrategic Committee of the Cyprus Republic and advisor to the President of the Republic. He is also a founding member and CEO of the Strategy International Institute.

His cum lauda PhD on Political Strategy and Security was completed at the University of Crete. He also has a Masters degree from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna - University of Vienna, in the field of diplomacy, international relations and political strategy, which was a continuation of his initial postgraduate degree in economics and politics at the University of London's School of Economics, where he specialised in Soviet and Post-Soviet Politics. He also holds a degree in International Relations and Politics from the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside. He has also completed the NATO Defence College’s postgraduate Strategy Course in Rome, specialising in international strategy and security.

Before being appointed to his post at the American University in the Emirates, Marios Efthymiopoulos held scientific and academic posts at Columbia University in New York, the Harriman Institute, the Centre for Transatlantic Relations at John Hopkins University, the Centre for European Research at George Washington University and at the Woodrow Wilson Centre for International Scholars. While preparing his thesis, he was also a scientific associate of the University of South Florida. He has also taught in his areas of expertise at the Greek Defence and Police Academies as well as at the Dubai Police. He has published a series of books on security and strategy, a large number of articles in Greek, Cypriot and American newspapers and has also given quite a few interviews to the European and American media.
