Panagiotis Balomenos

22 works in the series “Grey, grey, grey is the colour of the day” were presented by Panagiotis Balomenos in October 2014 in the Reunion Group Exhibition organised at an art gallery in the Finnish town of Porvoo.

A total of 14 artists who live and work in Finland who use painting, video, photography, sculpture, installations and performance as their creative media, participated in the exhibition. The main objective was to showcase works whose main subject is man and the way in which he communicates with and correlates to the whole at a social and political level.

As Panagiotis Balomenos explained, “The ‘Grey, grey, grey is the colour of the day’ series consists of 22 water colours, stories of love and desperation, that unfold between grey individuals living and working in grey spaces, grey buildings in utterly grey cities. My own personal interest in this specific work is to demystify a system of values that nowadays can no longer exist because of specific politico-economic and social impasses”.

Panagiotis Balomenos studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brera, Italy, sculpture at the University of Visual Arts / Städelschule in Frankfurt and acquired a postgraduate degree in art from the Helsinki Academy of Fine Arts. His work has been shown in many individual and group exhibitions both in Greece and abroad. He lives and works in Helsinki.
