Apostolia Papadamaki

In the spring of 2007, the dancer and choreographer Apostolia Papadamaki’s SuperLux dance project was presented in the International Contemporary Dance Festival in Vilnius, Lithuania, and in similar events in Liverpool and Madrid.

Originally produced in 2006, the work is a duet featuring Markella Manoliadi and Dimitris Caminaris, which focuses on the dazzling light of love, a feeling that is simultaneously invigorating, revolutionary and rare. At the end of this summer, the artist will present the same work at a festival in Veneto, Italy, and in October 2007 at a performing arts festival in Yerevan, Armenia.

The works constituting the Beauty Series trilogy, whose subject is the tension between image and content, were presented in the spring of 2007 in Ancona and Brescia, Italy, while two parts of the same trilogy, Human Female Study and Hermaphrodite, will also be presented in the International Theatre Festival in Sibiu, Romania, in August 2007, within the framework of the Cultural Capital of Europe events.

Last winter, Apostolia Papadamaki also appeared in New York, as performer in the Belgian multidisciplinary artist Jan Fabre’s work Je suis sang (I am blood – A medieval fairytale). In the winter of 2008, the same work will be presented in Tokyo.

Through her Quasi Stellar studio, which she established in 2002, Apostolia Papadamaki has collaborated with distinguished Greek and international artists in several shows and festivals.

She has also been commissioned to create choreographic works for other dance groups and companies – amongst others, the Zodiak Center for New Dance, Helsinki (Finland), the National Theatre of Northern Greece, the M.T.D. Opera, Ankara (Turkey), the Brooklyn Academy of Music (USA), etc.
