Constandinos Karydis-Maria Zisi

Two distinguished musical scholars, conductor, Constandinos Karydis, and pianist, Maria Zisi, took part in a momentous symphonic music concert in the context of the Athens Festival.

At the Herodion Theatre, on 24 July 2006, the Orchestra of Komische Oper Berlin presented Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain (1866-67), Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 (1901) in C minor, and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 6 (1939) in B minor under the musical direction of Constandinos Karydis.

A steadily rising maestro on the European music scene, the thirty-year-old scholar is chief conductor of the Stuttgart Opera. His companion during the purely “Russian” programme was the equally young and talented pianist, Maria Zisi.
