Michael Cosmopoulos

Michael Cosmopoulos, professor of Archaeology at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis, USA, was elected fellow to the Royal Society of Arts and Sciences of Canada, the highest academic distinction in Canada in the field of Arts, Humanitarian Studies and Sciences. The ceremony of induction to the Academy was held on the 24th of November in Winnipeg, with the support of the University of Calgary.

The contribution of Michael Cosmopoulos to the academic discipline of archaeology and the field of Hellenic Studies in the form of numerous books, articles and studies, his teaching work and his excavations, particularly in Iklaina, Messinia, is extensive indeed. Professor Cosmopoulos is also a fellow to the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, and fellow to the Social Sciences chair of the American Academy of Sciences in Saint Louis.
