The Cavafy Archive catalogue is based on the original cataloguing of the archive, managed and conducted by G. P. Savidis, and on its resulting Archive Catalogue, which has been entrusted to the Onassis Foundation upon the acquisition of the Cavafy Archive in the end of 2012. Aiming to protect irreplaceable archival materials and to render the Archive accessible to both researchers and the general public, the Onassis Foundation has completed the digitization of the Cavafy Archive during 2016. For the first time during its long history, the Cavafy Archive is now open and accessible to researchers; Cavafy scholars have the opportunity to work on high quality digitized archival materials. At the same time, the full digitized archival material is now being documented according to the international archival standards and guidelines provided by the International Council on Archives, and via an electronic cataloguing system, a process that once concluded will widen access to both the Archive and the poet’s work. The current version of the Cavafy Archive Catalogue is aiming to support research and facilitate access to the poet’s manuscripts while the Archive is entering a new digital era. Hence, the Cavafy Archive Catalogue is being revised on an ongoing basis; new content and details are being added and inconsistencies of older versions are being corrected.
